Preliminary review documentation from uni-assist: Vorprüfungsdokumentation – VPD

Before applying for a Bachelor’s degree programme at our university, you must check whether your foreign certificates entitle you to study in Germany. To do this, you must apply for a 'Preliminary review Documentation' (Vorprüfungsdokumentation – VPD) from uni-assist.

Uni-assist verifies your previous certificates and converts the grades to the German system. You can also find out whether application is only possible for certain degree programmes or whether you will have to successfully complete a preparatory course at a Studienkolleg first (information about attending a Studienkolleg).

If you would like to check whether it is possible for you to study in Germany before submitting your VPD application, you can do this using 'Check: University Admission' from uni-assist or in more detail in the anabin database of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Culturale.

VPD application

To apply for the VPD, please submit an application for Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (Bachelor’s – all subjects) in uni-assist's My Assist portal. Please send the following documents to uni-assist by post afterwards:

  • School leaving certificate which allows you to start university studies in your home country (including the overview of subjects and grades)
  • Also, if available, proof of:
    • successful completion of a university entrance examination
    • previous study at a university abroad (overview of subjects and grades, university’s grading system, possibly diploma certificate)

Certified copies of these documents in their original language are required. If the original language of the documents is a language other than German or English, they have to be translated by a court-certified translator. Please submit then a certified translation of the original and of the translation.

Please note that having your certificates reviewed by uni-assist will incur handling fees. Your VPD application will not be processed until those fees have been paid.

Processing time and deadlines

It takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks for uni-assist to process the documents and send you the VPD by email. Please apply for it well in advance; this is possible all year round. You must submit the VPD to our university

  • during your application for the winter semester usually no later than 27 July (work-study degree programme: 1 July).
  • during your application for the summer semester usually no later than 15 January.

Exceptions

You do not need to submit a VPD with your application for a Bachelor's degree programme if:

  • if you gained your higher education entrance qualification at a school following the German higher education entrance qualification regulations,
  • if you gained the "Gemischtsprachiges International Baccalaureate (GIB)" from a foreign school which offers a high level of German teaching,
  • if you gained the "European Baccalaureate" (issued from one of the 13 European Schools),
