Prerequisites for bachelor's degree programmes

The following are the necessary steps to apply for one or several degree programmes:

Please note that for a number of degree programmes proof of preliminary practical knowledge (preliminary work placement) must be provided. Proof must be submitted at enrolment.

Recognition of international education certificates: Preliminary Review Documentation (VPD)

An initial indication as to whether your international higher education entrance qualification allows you to study at a university in Germany is provided by the anabin database of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Culture or the admissions database of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

If you would like to apply for a Bachelor's degree programme at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, your international higher education entrance qualification certificates are subject to a preliminary review (Preliminary Review Documentation - VPD) by uni-assist.

Uni-assist checks your international higher education entrance qualification certificates and converts the grades obtained into the equivalent German grades. Uni-assist will also tell you whether you can study all subjects or only certain subjects (i.e. whether you have a general or a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification), or whether you must pass the final assessment exam (Feststellungsprüfung) at a Studienkolleg prior to application for a university place (for a degree programme at our university of applied sciences we recommend preparing for and taking the final assessment exam at the Studienkolleg Coburg).

Apart from the online application for the VPD, uni-assist requires the submission of the following documents:

  • a copy of your ID card or passport
  • a higher education entrance qualification* (secondary school leaving certificate)

Also, if available:

  • proof of successful completion of a university entrance examination*
  • proof of grades achieved from previous study at a university abroad*
  • proof of proficiency in German*
  • If paying by credit card: the signed credit card form

*Certified copies of these documents in their original language are required. If the original language of the documents is a language other than German or English, they have to be translated by a court-certified translator. Please submit then a certified translation of the original and of the translation.

It takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks to process the documents.
Send the documents for the VPD by post on time before the admissions deadline at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences to:

Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf
c/o uni-assist e.V.
11507 Berlin, Germany

A free review of certificates is available for refugees through the uni-assist application service under certain conditions (e.g. successful completion of the TestAS aptitude test).
All other applicants must pay a processing fee. Your documents will not be reviewed before you transfer the required amount to uni-assist.

You will receive the VPD from uni-assist by post and email. You must submit the original of the VPD

  • and the application form for the summer semester to Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences no later than 15 January.
  • and the application form for the winter semester to Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences no later than 15 July (work-study degree programme: 1 July).
The VPD may be submitted by 27 July.
