50 years of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences: The faces and stories

Maximilian Heyland

Maximilian Heyland completed his dual degree in Landscape Construction and Management in 2012. Since July 2019, he has been the managing director of the 2024 Kirchheim bei München horticultural show and has managed the 2020 Ingolstadt horticultural show, which is taking place from 21 April to 3 October 2021, since February 2021. Under the motto 'Inspired by nature', the 23-hectare show offers visitors both young and old an exciting, informative programme of exhibitions and events.

The key theme of 'sustainability' is apparent throughout the site – from show gardens to themed gardens that create inspiration for environmentally-friendly, resource-preserving garden design, the presentation areas for conventional and ecological agriculture and the 'city lab', a new area of the Ingolstadt horticultural show – all of the show’s sections raise awareness of the many forms that sustainability can take. "As an alumnus, it is a great honour for me that Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences is represented at our garden show with a highly innovative contribution to the 'city lab'. In a study project, students on the Landscape Construction and Management degree programme have both planned and created the work, showing, among other things, how green facades can have a positive impact on the urban climate and particulate pollution."
