Study contents of the Bachelor's programme for the organic sector
The Organic Food & Business degree programme focuses on dovetailing the four elements of production-processing-promotion-prosumption for the organic food industry:
- Through Production, you will learn the basics of organic Agriculture and the sustainable production of organic food in the overall system of agricultural production (circular economy).
- Together with innovative and organic processing (Processing), the production and processing knowledge of organic food is to be combined in a highly interdisciplinary way in the degree programme so that you gain a comprehensive understanding of organic production and processing.
- As part of the promotion (Marketing ), you will learn how to successfully sell organically produced and processed food with the help of marketing (including via social media) in the highly saturated food market. With modules such as business management, you will strengthen your business management skills and deepen your expertise in advanced modules and practical study projects.
- Beyond the actual marketing of the product, the perspective of consumers and their interests in the value chain are jointly developed under the heading of prosumption. As a result, you will be actively and practically involved in a critical examination of society and its demands for more climate-friendly, healthy and regional food production and more species-appropriate animal husbandry.
During the theory semesters, various internships, projects and student research projects, usually as part of a team, will ensure that you gain an insight into and proximity to the food-producing industry. In co-operation with practical companies, you will learn application-related methods and develop solutions for business issues in the organic sector.
In addition, you will round off your practice-orientated training with an internship semester in a company in the organic sector. This 5th semester in practice is followed by two semesters at the University of Applied Sciences and the Bachelor's thesis, in which you demonstrate your knowledge of organic food and business administration.
„Organic meets business! Sustainable food and smart strategies - from production to sales, you will gain insights into the entire value chain. Personal support, short distances, assistance with internships and lots of networking opportunities make it easier to start your career.“
