Your study stay at HSWT
You are already studying abroad and would like to come to Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) for one or two semesters? Then you have found the right page!
Whether you would like to study with us as part of Erasmus+, SEMP or as a freemover, here you will find all the important information you need for your semester abroad.
We recommend that you first check whether our semester times match those of your home university so that you can attend all important lectures and examinations.
Course Offer & Module Selection
The Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences offers a wide range of courses in the field of life sciences. The courses and modules you can take during your study stay with us and what you need to consider when choosing modules are listed here.
A semester abroad usually comprises at least 20 ECTS-credits (EC), but no more than 30-35 EC.
The planned modules are recorded in a Learning Agreement which is signed in advance by you, your home university and HSWT and submitted as part of your application.
The International Office and the international coordinators at our departments advise you on your course selection during the application process.
Important: You can attend courses at only one of the two HSWT campusses. Also, keep in mind that the level of the modules (bachelor's or master's) should match your current level of study at your home university.
Exchange students have various options available when choosing their courses and modules:

Accommodation in Freising (Weihenstephan)
When studying temporarily at the Weihenstephan campus, you are eligible to apply for a room in a hall of residence run by the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern (Munich Upper Bavaria Student Services) via the HSWT International Office. In the event of high demand, a lottery system will be used to allocate rooms.
The furnished single rooms in shared flats (WGs) cost €250–350 per month (including utilities). The bathroom and kitchen are shared. When moving in, you will receive bed linen and a sleeping bag as part of a ‘service package’.
About 8 to 10 weeks before the start of the semester, you will find out whether a room is available for you. The Studierendenwerk will then send you an offer, which you must accept promptly. Three months' rent plus a deposit must be paid in advance. You will receive further information with the room offer.
Students who do not move into a dormitory run by the Studierendenwerk can find tips on finding accommodation on our website or in our brochure.Students coming to Weihenstephan campus are advised to submit the application for a dormitory room together with their application.
