  • Exploring the Green Future

Institute of Ecology and Landscape

The Institute of Ecology and Landscape (IÖL) is dedicated to the topics of climate change, biodiversity, ecosystem functions, ecosystem services with sustainable uses and many more - always with a strong focus on applicability.

IÖL: Making the Green Future Possible

The Institute of Ecology and Landscape (IÖL) emerged from the former Institute for Landscape Architecture in March 2015 after a restructuring process. The research focus „Environmental Precaution, Biodiversity, Climate Change“ is paramount to the activities at the institute. However, there are also links to the research priorities „Renewable Resources, Renewable Energies, Energy Efficiency“ and „Land Use, Nutrition, Health“. All these topics will have to be interlinked for a green future strategy. The Peatland Science Centre, which is researching the key issues surrounding the climate impact of peatlands, is also helping here.

Professorships at the IÖL of the University of applied sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf

The Institute of Ecology and Landscape consists of 11 professorships. Professors from the departments of Landscape Architecture, Forestry and Agriculture and Food Economy use common resources, exchange know-how and experience, build synergies and work on joint projects. The participating professorships cooperate under the umbrella of the institute, but remain visible and capable of acting independently. For students of the respective subjects, there is thus a wide range of research fields that should lead to direct practical applications.
