Centre for Studies and Didactics
The University of applied sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf (HSWT) aims to serve the sustainable development of society and the world through teaching and research.
Science & Society in Exchange
- We as teachers, staff and students of the HSWT see it as our task to analyse, create, communicate and practically apply knowledge and insights in the applied life sciences. The constant exchange with society is essential for us.
- Teaching and research, fundamentals and practice mutually strengthen each other at the HSWT. Deeply reflected research enriches teaching in studies, knowledge transfer and further education and keeps it up to date at all times. Likewise, deeply reflected teaching always provides new impulses for research that builds on solid foundations and practical orientation.
Teaching at the HSWT follows these principles
-
We are a learning organisation
We continuously question the mutual fit of mission, study programmes and teaching by aligning and further developing content and form at all these levels with transparent, competence-oriented goals.
-
We build on new knowledge
We actively participate in achieving these goals by continuously reviewing our subject-specific, practice-based and subject-didactic expertise and methods for their appropriateness and by always remaining open to the implementation of innovative, activating and digital teaching methods.
-
We foster a culture of reflective learning and teaching
We foster a climate of experimentation and mutual appreciation in which our teachers can develop, critically examine and further develop their didactic, pedagogical and professional skills. Interdisciplinary thinking is an essential success factor for us.
-
We live a culture of diversity
We call for a barrier-free and diversity-sensitive community of learning, teaching and research at HSWT. Students, faculty and staff can pursue their diverse professional, personal and career inclinations.
-
We empower people for the tasks of a cosmopolitan future
Nurtured by regional presence and international networking, we promote the professional, methodological, linguistic, social and intercultural skills of our students. In this way, we prepare them for challenging professional and leadership tasks in the subject areas of the green life sciences - in both a national and international context.
The teaching mission statement fits into the overall strategic structure of the HSWT. Further information on the goals and mission of the HSWT can be found in the university development plan. The teaching mission statement will be followed by concrete implementation measures, which will be explained on the HSWT homepage.
