Course content Agricultural Economics at HSWT
Over five days, agricultural managers receive an overview of the agricultural economics of farms in Germany. The methods of common profitability calculation are comprehended both theoretically and in practice.
Focal points of the agricultural economics seminar
The course focuses on business management calculations concerning
- the minimum use of machinery (tractor/combine)
- fertiliser requirements
- economic efficiency (marginal yield calculation) for the cultivation of cereals (wheat, oats, barley, maize, etc.) and dairy cattle.
- multi-period investments
- on the interaction of costs, yields, profits, machinery & equipment calculations.
Methods & Tools of the Certificate Course at HSWT
The experienced teaching staff uses both classic and digital ways of knowing to diversify the 5-day seminar. These include:
- Meetings with farm managers to discuss profitability and return on investment calculations.
- Triesdorf MAX software to calculate the profitability of farms
- Guided implementation of the farm development management plan
- Introduction to investment plan & cost estimation and planning methods
