African-Bavarian Alliance for Applied Life Sciences (ABA)

From January 2022 to December 2023, the project "The African-Bavarian Alliance for Applied Life Sciences" was implemented at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT). The African-Bavarian Alliance was funded by the Bavarian State Chancellery as part of the "Bavarian Africa Package" and was an important part of HSWT Network Africa and the university's internationalisation strategy.

As part of the project, a network was established between HSWT and partner institutions (higher education, public sector, private sector) from Ethiopia, Senegal, Tunisia and South Africa (Gauteng & Western Cape), which represent Bavaria's focus countries in cooperation with Africa. The exchange on various topics of applied teaching in the life sciences was promoted through a variety of activities (organisation of face-to-face events, virtual workshops as well as networking and travel activities). In addition to the bilateral contacts between HSWT and the African partner universities, the networking of the institutions with each other can also be seen as a success of the "African-Bavarian Alliance for Applied Life Sciences".
