Regional paths to climate-neutral universities of applied sciences (REKLINEU)
In view of the far-reaching and urgent challenges of climate change, universities of applied sciences, as public institutions and actors in the production and dissemination of knowledge, have a special responsibility to actively shape sustainability processes. So far, however, efforts to achieve a sustainable transformation of their own institutions at German universities have primarily been implemented within the framework of temporary projects, whereas long-term structural decisions are often lacking. Against this background, the network presented here REKLINEU pursues the goal of of establishing a „culture of sustainability“ at the participating universities universities of applied sciences and focuses in particular on taking stock, avoidance, reduction and compensation of carbon dioxide (CO2) at the center of scientific interest.

Procedure
In concrete terms the work program can be divided into three overarching thematic research priorities, for which the three participating universities are Universities of applied sciences are responsible for:
- The first focus area deals with CO2 balancing as well as the analysis and possibilities for reducing current CO2 release. In order to ensure a systematic and scientifically sound cooperation within the network, REKLINEU will develop common standards and standards and methods for the analysis and regional compensation of CO2.
- The second focus area looks beyond the campus buildings and campus buildings and the operations of the universities of applied sciences and asks about the potential of regional forests, fields and moors for CO2 compensation.
- Finally, the third focal point is the theme of sustainability itself. sustainability itself is explored in a multidisciplinary way and the question of the the fundamental conditions for the success of transformation processes at University of applied sciences. The sustainability lab recently founded at JMU as a central WueLAB, a sustainability laboratory recently founded at JMU as a central scientific institution bundles existing innovative strength and know-how in transdisciplinary as well as cross-status group and cross-location sub-projects and strengthens internal and external communication.
In all key areas and work packages, REKLINEU systematically and comprehensively utilizes the complementary expertise available at the three participating University of applied sciences, so that in addition to scientific and technical research and technically oriented research work, perspectives from the social social sciences and the humanities. In addition In addition to academic staff, all other status groups represented at the University of applied sciences are actively and permanently involved in the project. project. REKLINEU thus aims to demonstrate the feasibility of decarbonization the feasibility of decarbonization paths and to serve as a model and catalyst for and catalyst for comparable initiatives and structures.
In the process numerous collaborations with external partners from business, politics and partners from business, politics and society will facilitate the development of models models of integrative regional sustainability concepts that are also that are also effective beyond universities of applied sciences.Publications
