Your area of responsibility:
We are seeking highly motivated candidates (m/f/x) for a scientific research position to develop novel machine learning- and deep learning-based approaches in the field of phenotype prediction.
- You will work on phenotype prediction problems to gain a better understanding of genotype-phenotype relationships by analyzing multiple types of biological data, including sequencing and imaging data.
- You will develop novel machine learning- and deep learning-based approaches to address currently unsolved challenges in this area.
- You will closely collaborate with crop production and breeding experts.
- You will write scientific publications and present your results at international conferences.
- You will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of a new research lab.
- The possibility of pursuing a PhD degree is strongly supported.
Your profile:
- Experience and interest in the following research areas: machine learning, deep learning, bioinformatics
- Strong programming backgrund (preferably in Python) and experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch)
- Scientific curiosity, ability to work in a team and self-motivated working style
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- German language skills are a plus
- Experience on working with biological sequence data is a plus

Notes:
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date. Payment will be made in accordance with the provisions of collective bargaining law, up to pay grade E13 TV-L if the personal and collective bargaining requirements are met. Taking into account the requirements of the job, the position is also suitable for part-time employment.
