Study renewable energies & find the key to climate protection
Stopping climate change is a challenge that will occupy us intensively over the coming decades. The complete conversion of the energy supply to renewable energies is central and indispensable. These energy sources and sustainable energy management are the key to the success of the energy transition. On the Management of Renewable Energies degree programme at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, you will acquire technical and digital skills, entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to act in a socially responsible and sustainable manner. You will benefit from a practice-oriented degree programme with a holistic approach - a concept that is also practised in the other degree programmes with a focus on environmental protection at the HSWT.
On completion of the programme, you will be fit for both energy management and the energy industry.
You will acquire these skills during your studies at the Weihenstephan Campus:
- Creating energy concepts in the fields of electricity, heat & mobility
- Carrying out profitability analyses for energy projects
- Basic technical and economic project planning
- Designing energy management in companies
- Development & implementation of marketing measures & market research
- Advising cities & municipalities on energy issues & climate protection management
- Knowledge of political and legal framework conditions, analysis of changes in directives & their implementation in the corporate environment

Contents of the Bachelor's degree programme Management of Renewable Energies
The bachelor's degree programme covers a wide range of topics, which are taught using a variety of teaching methods. At Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, the renewable energy degree programme focuses on these four aspects:
- A holistic energy degree programme with a focus on management
We are one of the few degree programmes in the field of renewable energies with a holistic, economic-technical focus. This means that you will learn about the technical side of using renewable energies as well as the economic, legal affairs and political framework. The focus is on energy management, which makes up two thirds of the degree programme, while you learn the technical and scientific fundamentals in the remaining third. Are you primarily interested in these technical and scientific topics? Then you can also choose to study Energy Technology in Triesdorf.
- Inclusion of all renewable energies
The Bachelor's degree programme also looks at all types of renewable energy: from solar energy (photovoltaics, solar thermal energy) to wind energy, hydropower, bioenergy from biogenic energy sources and geothermal energy. The energy mix of the future will utilise all of these resources. It is therefore all the more important to consider the "energy world of the future", its energy systems and raw materials in their diversity and totality as part of the Bachelor's degree programme.
- Close to practice
Thanks to the diverse involvement of companies, the Management of Renewable Energies degree programme is very practice-oriented. During the entire 5th semester, all students work in a company of their choice in the energy sector.
- Internationality
The energy industry is global. Therefore, take the opportunity to qualify for work in an international environment during your studies.
You will complete these modules on the renewable energies degree programme
The Bachelor's degree is fully modularised and follows the 6+1 model (six semesters of study plus one practical semester) of the Bavarian Universities of Applied Sciences. The course always starts in the winter semester on 1 October each year. The module overview for the Management of Renewable Energies degree programme provides information on the content of the individual semesters.
