Student.Card of HSWT
Your Student.Card is a small piece of high-tech in cheque card format. You can use the Student.Card to pay for your lunch, borrow books or take the bus and train.
Obtain, use, replace Student.Card
As a student at the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf you will receive your Student.Card, printed with your surname, first name, date of birth and photo. It is given to you and will last for the entire duration of your studies at HSWT if you keep it in a card sleeve and do not bend, scratch or puncture it or expose it to excessive heat.
On the thermal print field at the bottom, the information about your studies is updated every semester when you validate the card. The strip can be written on up to 1000 times, but is sensitive to abrasion, for example in a wallet. Use a card sleeve, which you can get from Student.Service at any time.
What are the functions of the student card?
Depending on the campus, you can use your Student.Card for these purposes:
-
Identification
The Student.Card is now valid as your student-ID. Only some institutions, such as the Central University Sports Centre in Munich, do not accept the card. Therefore, print out the enrollment certificate in MyCampus.
-
Library Card
When you receive your Student.Card, you automatically have an ID in the central user database of the library network of the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf and its sub-libraries as well as the TU Munich and its sub-libraries.
This identification is printed on the back of the card in the form of a barcode and a sequence of numbers. When you borrow something for the first time, your personal data will be recorded once in the library. After the end of your studies, you can continue to use the Student.Card as a library card.
-
The Student.Card as a Key
The Student.Card opens buildings and rooms with electronic doors on your campus. As a rule, these are computer rooms with access control.
The access authorisation at the other study campus, Weihenstephan or Triesdorf, can be activated on request. To do so, send an informal e-mail to servicedesk@hswt.de.
How does paying with the Student.Card work?
A particularly practical function of the student card is cashless payment. This is how it works:
-
How do I load credit onto the Student.Card?
Before the card can be used as a means of payment, it must be topped up with cash at a revalue machine. You can find reloaders here:
Weihenstephan: C4.221, D1.128, A9 (reverse vending machine), A1.246 (reverse vending machine), Canteen, Cafeteria
Triesdorf: Canteen, C.050.2
Please note that your credit can only be used at the campus where you have topped up your Student.Card. The payment systems of the two operators (Munich Student Union and the Triesdorf Agricultural Education Institutes (LLA Triesdorf)) are independent of each other and the credits are therefore not transferable.
-
Where can I pay with my student ID card?
Once you have topped up the card, you can do the following on your campus
- pay for canteen meals
- use the vending machines and photocopiers
- pay for printing and plotting services
-
What happens to the remaining credit on the card?
If you do not use up your credit before exmatriculation or the return of your Student.Card, you can have it paid out at an Info-Point of the Munich Student Union or at the Triesdorf Agricultural Education Institutes (LLA Triesdorf).
The credit balance of the HSWT print account cannot be refunded, but you can transfer it to fellow students by using the following link and logging in with your global user ID and password (you will need an existing VPN connection to use the link from outside). In the menu, go to the page "Transfers". There you will see your available remaining credit. Enter this amount in the field "Amount". In the field "Transfer to user" enter the global user ID of the student to whom you want to transfer your remaining credit. Finally, confirm the process with the button "Transfer".
How do I get my Student.Card?
You will receive your student ID card upon presentation of a valid ID card at the beginning of the winter semester.
- at the beginning of the winter semester at the introductory courses.
- If you start in the summer semester, only at Student.Service.
How can I renew or validate my Student.Card?
After you have completed your re-registration for the following semester, insert your card once into a validation station. You can find them here:
- Weihenstephan Campus: Administration building A6 Foyer (main entrance north side), Kustermannhalle A9 (entrance north) and Pappelallee C4.221 (vending machine room).
- Campus Triesdorf: Building C (next to the lift) and Building E (next to E.011)
Caution! Broken, shattered and dirty cards can damage the validation station, for which you may be liable as the person causing the damage. Clean the card with soap and water or get a replacement card.
Where can I get a replacement card?
If you have lost or damaged your Student.Card, contact Student.Service as soon as possible for a replacement card. If you lose your card, it will be blocked. If you find it again, it can also be unblocked. Your old credit can be transferred to the new Student.Card.
The replacement card costs 15.00 euros. Exceptions are only made if the defect occurs on an externally undamaged card.
What data is stored on the chip in the card?

The data in the imprint are name, first name(s), date of birth, photo, library number, serial number, number of the monetary value segment of the Munich Student Union. The variable TRW strip in the lower area contains the matriculation number, degree programme and validity.
