Geodata in Agriculture

Agriculture is changing: digital technologies and geodata in particular are becoming increasingly important. The constantly growing volume of data opens up new opportunities, but also poses challenges – both in practical agriculture and in upstream and downstream areas. In order to make the most of the resulting opportunities and better assess risks, it is essential to have a sound knowledge of geodata.

Our further education programme supports you in deepening your knowledge of geodata, applying it in a practical way and making agricultural processes more efficient. We offer the following training courses as part of this concept:

  • Basic QGIS applications
  • Advanced QGIS applications in agriculture (vector data)
  • Advanced QGIS applications in agriculture (raster data)
  • Mobile geodata collection with QGIS and QField
  • Online support hours for QGIS questions

The first three training courses are offered in co-operation with the Bildungswerk des Bayerischen Bauernverbands (BBV). Registration takes place directly via the BBV Bildungswerk – you will find the corresponding link under the detailed description of the respective training course.

The courses „Mobile geodata acquisition with QGIS and QField“ and „Online support hours for QGIS questions“ can be booked individually on request.

You will find the appropriate contact person below.

If you have any further questions or individual training requests, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail – we look forward to hearing from you!

Advanced QGIS applications in Agriculture (raster data)

The „Advanced QGIS applications in Agriculture (raster data)“ training course is aimed at advanced users who have ideally already completed the „Basic QGIS applications“ course or have other prior knowledge. The aim of the course is to deepen QGIS skills in the area of raster layers.

The course begins with an introduction to raster layers. Participants will learn how to integrate web-based data sources and save sections of them locally. Furthermore, it is shown how raster data (RGB images) from Google Earth Pro can be integrated and georeferenced in QGIS projects.

Another focus is on multispectral images and the calculation of indices in the raster computer. The integration of raster data from the Copernicus Browser and the use and creation of models are covered in detail.

In addition, the integration of orthophotos from drone flights and the creation of zone and application maps based on the data obtained will be explained. Participants will learn how to combine multiple raster data and use models to create application maps.
