Course content

This programme aims to provide in-depth competencies in producing and developing high-quality food. It can be taken with a focus on either of two areas of specialisation: Product Development teaches students how to develop and technologically translate new foods, while Product Safety familiarises them with the knowledge of how processes and products are assessed in terms of their risks and how safe variants are produced and/or processes are optimised.

The Master’s degree programme in Food Quality started in the winter semester 2019/20. The programme is jointly sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, the Department of Horticulture and Food Technology, the Department of Sustainable Agriculture and Energy Systems, and the Department of Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition. The Bavarian Ministry for Health and Food Safety (Bayerisches Landesamt für Gesundheit und Lebensmittelsicherheit - LGL) has taken on a major part of the teaching in this programme.
