Ongoing appeal proceedings
The appointment monitor shows the following procedural statuses:
-
1. application phase
The vacancy is advertised publicly in order to reach a broad spectrum of applicants. The advertisement usually takes four to six weeks.
-
2. selection phase
After the application deadline, the appointment committee reviews the applications, sets the date for the trial lectures and the topic of the compulsory presentation. The HR department checks the formal suitability of the applicants to be invited. The most suitable candidates will receive an invitation with the compulsory lecture topic two to three weeks before the date of the trial lecture. Candidates can choose the topic of the elective lecture themselves.
-
3. trial course and list formation
The selected applicants will be invited to a trial teaching event. This consists of:
- Two lectures or teaching samples of an appropriate duration that are open to the university and related to the content of the professorship. If applicable, one of the two lectures must be held in English.
- A private interview with the members of the appointment committee
- A private interview with a selected group of students from the relevant subject area
The appointment committee will then draw up a list of the three best candidates.
-
4. committee phase and call allocation
The appointment proposal undergoes a final formal review in the Human Resources Department and is then submitted to the Senate and the Executive Board of the University for confirmation. The candidates on the list may be invited to appointment interviews. Once all voting and negotiations have been successfully completed, the top candidate will receive a letter of appointment.
-
5. call acceptance & appointment
Once the call has been accepted, the remaining applicants receive a final rejection. They are then appointed to the professorship.
