The Parterregarten

The Parterregarten was conceived as a top-view planting in a modern design. Clipped hedges of yew and various varieties of barberry divide up the individual, irregularly shaped sections. They create a striking contrast to the free appearance of the surrounding herbaceous plants. The different shades of green and autumn colours of the hedges make the seasons just as tangible as the geophytes and perennials used. Reliable species and varieties (Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii, Bistorta amplexicaulis, Hakonechloa macra, etc.) that are effective over a long period of time were specifically chosen. Individual interspersed ornamental grasses (Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster') create the link between the sub-areas. Together with the repetition of the hedges, they connect the entire area to form a uniform whole.
