Collaborative project: SkIES - Scalable Integration of Energy Sharing; Sub-project: System integration through optimized energy and data exchange

The SkIES project aims to implement energy sharing in four relevant application areas:

  • in energy cooperatives,
  • in the housing energy cooperatives,
  • in the housing industry,

By developing scalable, interoperable overall solutions for these target groups, the project aims to accelerate the market ramp-up and integrate energy sharing into existing processes in the energy industry.

Objective

The open source models and simulation tools developed in the project, as well as the energy database, form the basis for the scientific analysis and assessment of energy sharing concepts. These findings flow directly into research and teaching in order to prepare students for the digital energy transition in a practical way and to promote early-career researchers.

Procedure

The activities of HSWT extend over the entire duration of the project and follow a structured sequence of development, implementation and evaluation phases. In the initial phase, the focus is on initializing the system landscape. This involves identifying the relevant use cases, working out the methodological basis for the digital infrastructure and developing initial processes for integrating the stakeholders involved. The aim is to define an interoperable system architecture with clear technical and organizational framework conditions. 

In the subsequent development period, the focus is on implementing the digital infrastructure and developing the necessary models. This includes the creation of a real-time energy database, the integration of relevant data sources and the development and implementation of optimization and coordination mechanisms for energy sharing. At the same time, the technical requirements of the data infrastructure are analyzed and the pilot projects are scientifically supported. The validation of the developed models is carried out using practical simulations and pilot projects.

The final phase serves the scientific dissemination and synthesis of the research results. This includes the publication of scientific articles, the development of practice-oriented guidelines and the public presentation of the project results.
