Under the slogan “Plot Twist – from now on, everything’s different!”, the workshop for female students took place on 21 May at the Triesdorf Campus, hosted by the Ackerschwestern – Franzi, Martina and Jessi.

During the workshop, the young women on the Agriculture course were shown how they can actively shape their role in Agriculture and break new ground. Together, they created a ‘plot twist’ – moving away from reserve and towards greater self-confidence and presence.

Strengthening one’s own position

The focus was on exchange, mutual support and concrete ideas to make skills more visible. The participants were able to gain valuable insights and network with one another, enabling them to assert themselves within their own agricultural businesses and strengthen their position. The topic of marrying into a farming family and taking over a farm – along with the associated challenges – was also discussed in depth and highlighted as an important aspect for future planning.

Workshop as part of the UN campaign for women in Agriculture

The workshop was organised by the Commissioners for Equal Opportunities for Women in Science and the Arts. The workshop took place as part of the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026 (IYWF 2026), proclaimed by the United Nations (UN), and sent a strong signal for greater visibility of women in the sector. This year’s Josef Göppel Forum, held as part of Triesdorf’s Johannitag on 28 June 2026, is also dedicated to the IYWF. Under the title “Strong Women. Strong Agriculture.”, various female stakeholders from the Agriculture sector will provide insights into their work and experiences.
