TunPrev launches first workshop in Germany
The first face-to-face workshop as part of the TunPrev research project took place at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) in mid-July. The aim of the event was to present the current state of research and to initiate the first project steps.
Together with four scientists from the partner university Université de Gabès in Tunisia, current challenges and progress in drought management in Tunisia were discussed and practical methods for modelling catchment areas and assessing droughts were presented.
A further workshop on adaptation to the situation and needs in Tunisia and a summer school for young researchers, both in Tunisia and in Germany, are planned for the rest of the year.
TunPrev is funded by the Bavarian State Chancellery and is dedicated to the prediction of droughts and the strengthening of climate resilience in (semi-)arid regions.
