Three inspiring days of Lehrlabor³ at the HSWT
Under the motto „We deepen!“, the second meeting of the Lehrlabor³ teams was characterised by three intensive days of professional development, peer-to-peer exchange and joint reflection.
From 6 to 8 May 2025, the teams of the Lehrlabor³ met at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) in Freising. The second meeting focussed on didactic principles and the question: How do students actually learn - and which models help teachers to better understand and design learning processes? Prof Dr Claudia Schäfle provided specialist input with an overview of current approaches to active and effective university teaching. Topics such as the ICAP framework and the SCALE-UP concept offered participants many new perspectives and concrete suggestions for the further development of their own teaching projects.
A central element of the Lehrlabor³ was once again the intensive exchange between the teams: In short pitches, the participants presented their current project progress and received constructive feedback from different specialist perspectives. It was this open reflection and the opportunity to look beyond the boundaries of their own specialisms that made the days particularly valuable.
New perspectives
The HSWT's location also contributed to the success of the event: During the Walk & Talk through the perennial garden and a guided tour of the vegetable allotment, the participants got to know the University of applied sciences and its special learning and practice spaces better. The insights into the design and use of the raised beds also provided new ideas for their own teaching projects - a successful example of how learning spaces outside the lecture theatre can open up new perspectives
What is Lehrlabor³?
New ideas for teaching arise where people find time, space and inspiration together - and this is exactly where Lehrlabor³ comes in. The BayZiel programme brings together university teams, each consisting of a lecturer, a student and a research assistant. In this deliberately interdisciplinary and low-hierarchy tripartite format, the teams develop new teaching and learning formats, try them out in their own teaching context and reflect on their experiences on the basis of findings from university research.
Further information on the teaching lab³ can be found on the BayZiel website.
