“I’ve read your project description, and that’s exactly the area I’m currently writing my Master’s thesis on,” says Anna, a student on the Master’s programme in Agricultural Management, smiling as she strikes up a conversation with a company representative. “Then we should definitely have a chat,” comes the spontaneous reply from her counterpart. What begins with a brief sentence develops into an in-depth discussion about topics, ideas and opportunities. A few weeks later, a follow-up meeting at the company will take place.  

Sometimes a major career move begins with a brief conversation. 

At the Agrar 2026 Entrepreneurs’ Day organised by HSWT and TUM, students and graduates once again met companies specifically looking for young talent. Firms apply to take part up to a year in advance. Launched many years ago as an Entrepreneurs’ Day for the agricultural sector, the event has since attracted numerous companies from the energy sector as well. 

It is the personal encounters that characterise the well-known career fair in Weihenstephan, and it is clear that graduates from Weihenstephan are in high demand on the job market. In a relaxed atmosphere, contacts are made with concrete prospects, whether for a dissertation, an internship or for starting a career. 

Opportunities, door-openers and interesting encounters

For many participants, the annual job fair, held at the Department of Sustainable Agriculture and Energy Systems, acts as a door-opener. Companies not only present their projects and fields of work, but also get to know potential staff directly, bypassing traditional application processes. At the same time, students gain valuable insights into potential career paths and the practical requirements of the industry. Through the Entrepreneurs’ Day, HSWT and TUM jointly create a platform where networks are formed and concrete opportunities flourish. Opportunities that, through initial tentative contacts, often mark the beginning of a successful professional future.
