Study Information Day of the HSWT at the Weihenstephan campus
The seven departments and numerous institutions of the HSWT presented their courses at the Study Information Day at the Weihenstephan Campus on 27 March.
The diverse range of degree programmes offered by the green University of Applied Sciences last Friday attracted over 1,000 prospective students to Freising. For Marina and Ramona, both in twelfth grade at a grammar school in the district of Dachau, the study information day was an opportunity to get an idea of the University of applied sciences and the departments' study programmes. „We found out about the study information day through an offer from our school and tips from friends,“ says Ramona. In the run-up to the event, both schoolgirls found out about possible degree programmes at the HSWT. "We are particularly excited about the lectures and study options in the field of Landscape Architecture," explains Marina at the start of the SIT.
There were also exciting offers for those interested in Master's degree programmes at the HSWT. Gasim completed his Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology in Pakistan and is particularly interested in a more practical focus in the advanced Master's programme, which will open up new perspectives and tasks in the biotech, pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries. The strong practical focus in the degree programme and the location of the Bioengineering (Sciences) department particularly appeal to Gasim: As he lives in Freising, HSWT is his preferred choice for the Master's programme.
Behind the scenes of everyday student life
Jennifer Käß is already studying the Bachelor's degree programme in Food Technology at the Weihenstephan campus in the fourth semester and was on hand to advise prospective students at the information stand for the degree programme. The exchange with HSWT students opens up the opportunity to gain authentic insights into student life and the practical semesters and to make initial contacts directly.
Interested parties had the opportunity to visit the buildings and premises of the departments located in Freising and to get to know the course content, teaching staff and campus grounds in lectures and guided tours. In addition to the degree programmes, visitors were also able to find out about the services offered by the central institutions, including the International Office, Funding & Career Service, the Language Centre, the Student Advisory Service, the Green Office and the Diversity Office.
