GL Department Summer Party: A successful celebration of community spirit

The department of Horticulture and Food Technology celebrated its summer party with a social gathering, a fun quiz and a farewell to Prof. Dr Heike Susanne Mempel.

This year’s GL department summer party took place in a summery atmosphere. Numerous lecturers, teaching staff and staff came together to enjoy a lovely afternoon and evening. Far removed from the daily grind, the event offered a welcome opportunity for personal encounters, stimulating conversations and enriching exchanges.

A barbecue ensured that everyone was well catered for. With a varied selection of food and chilled drinks, guests were able to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and socialise. The relaxed atmosphere encouraged cross-disciplinary exchanges, the forging of new contacts and the deepening of existing relationships.

A particular highlight of the summer party was the entertaining quiz, which, with its varied questions, generated excitement, plenty of enthusiasm and numerous laughs. 

Another emotional moment was the farewell to Prof. Dr Heike Susanne Mempel, who is leaving the department after many years to take up a post at the University of Hohenheim. Colleagues took the opportunity to thank her for her consistently dedicated and pleasant collaboration and to wish her the best for her future professional and personal endeavours. Ms Mempel was bid farewell with warm words and plenty of applause. She will be fondly remembered by the GL department as a valued colleague.

The summer party once again highlighted the strong sense of camaraderie within the department of GL. The successful combination of culinary delights, shared entertainment and personal conversations made the event a special experience for everyone involved.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all the organisers and the numerous helpers whose dedication contributed to the success of the party. The GL department can look back on a thoroughly successful summer’s day that will be fondly remembered for a long time to come.
