Over 1000 students discover sustainability - workshops at the Centre for Professional Development inspire Freising and the surrounding area
Over 1,000 pupils from Freising and the surrounding area took part in interactive workshops on the topics of climate change and sustainability. In collaboration with over 40 classes from 12 different schools and institutions, a diverse educational programme was created to sensitise young people to the challenges and opportunities of our time.
Highlight: Project days full of sustainability and a spirit of discovery
The project days at a primary school in May 2025 were a special highlight. Seven classes with a total of 140 pupils explored five exciting topics over two days, including sustainability in motion, research, arts and crafts, energy and climate change. Each theme consisted of several interactive stations spread throughout the school building and playground. The pupils were able to move freely throughout the day, discover, try things out and get creative.
From water to SDGs
The workshops covered a wide range of topics:
- Thematic specialisations such as water, waste separation/avoidance and renewable energies provide a practical approach to environmental topics.
- General workshops on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change and sustainability offer a global overview and encourage discussion.
- Anew addition to the programme is a creative craft workshop with a focus on sustainability
Learning with all senses, from Year 1
What's special: The workshops are designed to be interactive and age-appropriate. Children as young as Year 1 can actively participate. Through playful elements, experiments and creative tasks, the pupils delve deep into the topics and develop a sustainable awareness that extends beyond everyday school life.
A strong signal for education and the future
With its diverse range of workshops, the Centre for Professional Development sends out a powerful signal. Here, education is lived as the key to sustainable development. The great response from schools and students impressively shows how strong the interest in environmental and future topics is and how great the motivation is to become active oneself. The demand is so pleasingly high that dates are booked up very quickly well into the school year. This confirms that sustainability education is in tune with the times and that the Centre for Professional Development is right where the future is being shaped.
