International Summer Term Programme ‘Agriculture, Food & Nutrition’ 2026 successfully completed
The International Summer Term Programme “Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition”, run by the department of Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition at the Triesdorf Campus, came to a successful conclusion with a formal certificate presentation ceremony. After three intensive months, the students received their certificates of completion.
For the seventh time, the well-established study programme brought together around 50 students from 13 countries. The countries represented were Tunisia, Kenya, Uganda, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Nigeria, Thailand, Cambodia, Ukraine, Laos, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Students from Nigeria and South Africa took part for the first time. The participation of Kazakh students was also a particular asset. They completed a new, practice-oriented programme that was implemented in collaboration with businesses. “It was a great privilege to be here. We will return to our home countries and use this opportunity and the knowledge we have gained to make a positive impact on our countries,” said one participant during the farewell ceremony.
Together with their lecturers, the students looked back on the past few months. Prof. Dr Ralf Schlauderer, Head of the International School, emphasised: “You have seen a great deal in Germany, visited farms first-hand and gained a comprehensive, broad and in-depth insight into the agriculture and food sector. You are the students from your country who were selected to be given this opportunity. You are the future of your country – the ones who should be able to find solutions and opportunities for a good life in your country. We hope that you will benefit from your time at HSWT and be able to shape your lives and your futures.”
During their stay, the students gained comprehensive insights into the German agricultural and food industry. Lectures were complemented by field trips and project work. In addition, numerous activities provided opportunities to get to know the culture and forge international friendships.
“We work very intensively in scientific research and teaching, but the foundation for this lies in the personal relationships we cultivate here in Triesdorf. You are now part of this network, and we hope that we can support you in making the world a little better,” said Department Chair Prof. Dr Wilhelm Pflanz as he bid the students farewell.
Programme coordinator Dr Bernd Müller drew a positive conclusion: “You’ve come together from 13 different countries, growing closer as a team and as friends – that’s truly something unique. I hope you realise that the doors of the HSWT are always open to you, and you can be proud of what you have achieved.”
