FutureLab project with Laurentius Gymnasium Neuendettelsau and the Centre for Professional Development
The Laurentius Gymnasium is now well aware of the offers from the Centre for Professional Development for Schools on the subject of climate and sustainability, which is why the deputy headmistress asked us to participate in the new school project. Throughout the school year, year 10 pupils will work on a project of their choice in groups on the 17 sustainability goals. The project will take place as part of Frei Day, a learning format organised by Schule im Aufbruch under the name FutureLab. The HSWT Centre for Professional Development took part in the kick-off event, which took place at the school on 26 September 2025, with a presentation by Prof. Dr Huth on the topic of sustainability and the sustainability goals.
The tailor-made follow-up event took place on 13.10. on the HSWT campus under the management and organisation of the HSWT's Centre for Professional Development with the participation of the Green Office, Environmental Manager Klaus Chwastek-Zwack and several students. The event was made possible by B.Life.
After a welcome and introduction by the ZW, the Green Office started with a short input on the topic of SDGs and a task. The classes, divided into groups, were then guided by students to the University of applied sciences' Green Spots to get ideas for their own school and to develop their own project directly on site. The students were asked to think about a specific measure and record what benefits it could bring, what obstacles could stand in the way of its realisation, whether it could be financed and which SDGs could be achieved through the measure.
After a short break, the groups were allowed to present their ideas. Creative ideas such as printing plate electricity, environmental working group, sustainable break-time sales, wind power and clothes swapping were put up for discussion and suggestions were provided by the University of Applied Sciences. Time flew by and everyone agreed that the event was a successful and motivating start to the school year project.
