Freising: Please support students in their search for accommodation

Eine Person in einem Mantel wird von hinten gezeigt. Sie steht mit dem Rücken zur Kamera in einem Gang und blickt aus einer Fensterwand. Draußen sind Gebäudewände, Autos und Bäume zu erkennen.

Many new students and young people that are planning to study are concerned about finding accommodation.

The availability of a suitable apartment or a suitable room in a shared flat near the campus is an important factor when starting a degree programme. Especially at the beginning of the semester, it is not always easy to find accommodation in Freising (and the surrounding area).

Spread knowledge about housing space

We therefore ask students who are moving out of their (shared) room or apartment, who know of an available apartment or a vacant room in a shared flat, to share this knowledge and make it known via notices, newspaper advertisements or online platforms so that potential new students are informed about available housing space.

We also ask owners of houses and apartments in the region to advertise rooms online or in daily newspapers and to rent them out to students at affordable prices.

Try out creative alternatives

Another option that is already in high demand is the homesharing project “Wohnen für Hilfe” (housing in return for help). The offer is aimed at students who are looking for affordable accommodation and older people who need support in their everyday lives. In return for a room or an apartment, students can provide help with household chores, gardening or other activities (excluding utility costs).
