Film tip: HSWT's Peatland Science Centre on Terra X with Harald Lesch
„Solutions are already being researched at a special place in the north of Munich.“ This is how the report on the HSWT's peatland research centre begins in the ZDF documentary series with Professor Harald Lesch.
„Terra X Harald Lesch and the underestimated climate opportunity“ is the title of the documentary from 13 August 2024, which focuses on the potential of nature to combat the climate crisis. In addition to forests and oceans, the role of moors in climate protection is highlighted in particular. Carla Bockermann, research assistant at the Peatland Science Centre, shows Harald Lesch around the HSWT research area in Freisinger Moos, demonstrates the measuring equipment and explains possibilities for the agricultural use of peatlands, paludiculture.
The Terra X team invited HSWT scientist Dr Tim Eickenscheidt to a live discussion on the YouTube channel to expand on the half-hour TV report. Both programmes are available online:
