The Tax Office visits the Triesdorf Campus

Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) recently welcomed the team of auditors from the Mittelfranken-West Tax Office’s Audit Department, based in Ansbach, to its Triesdorf campus. As part of a staff outing, the staff took the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the university campus and its wide-ranging activities.

To kick things off, the Vice-President of HSWT, Prof. Dr Ulrike Machold, gave a presentation on the University of applied sciences and the special role played by the Triesdorf campus in teaching, research and knowledge transfer. She also highlighted current research projects and emphasised HSWT’s contribution to the development of sustainable solutions for the Agriculture and Food Economy.

Jürgen Herold from the General Subject Advisory Service then spoke about the history of Triesdorf – from the Margrave’s summer residence to today’s centre for education and research – as well as the range of degree programmes offered by HSWT.

During guided tours of the laboratory with Annette Stallauer, the technical centre with Wolfgang Ernst and around the campus, the guests gained a practical insight into the University of applied sciences’ research and teaching infrastructure. The participants learnt about the close integration of science and practice that characterises the Triesdorf site.

The diversity of the campus in particular left a lasting impression on the visitors. “We’ve driven past Triesdorf many times, but never really took any notice of the University of applied sciences. It was only during the tour that it became clear just how versatile and significant the site is,” said one participant. 

The visit concluded with a guided tour of Weidenbach led by Mayor Willi Albrecht. As well as the community hall and the church, the itinerary also included the multi-generational centre. During the tour, the guests gained interesting insights into the development of the community and local community life.

The visit came about through the efforts of Funda Nehmeier, a member of staff working for the Commissioner for Equal Opportunities for Women in Science and the Arts. A varied afternoon at the Triesdorf educational hub drew to a close, leaving the guests with many new impressions from the fields of education, science, research and local community development.
