Consumenta 2025: HSWT as a strong partner of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region
At the trade fair in Nuremberg, HSWT was represented under the umbrella of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025.
The University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf (HSWT) was present at the 71st Consumenta with a stand for the Nutrition and Food Sciences degree programme. As part of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, the University of applied sciences presented itself as an essential partner in the field of education and professional development. In his opening speech, Martin Schöffel, Member of the Bavarian Parliament and State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Home Affairs (StMFH), praised the HSWT and its Triesdorf campus as a „place of longing“ with outstanding products.
Dr Christa Standecker, Managing Director of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region Office, thanked HSWT Professor Dr Andrea Früh-Müller, who is actively involved in the application, during the panel discussion „'We are applying for the World Heritage Site Agricultural Culture' Nuremberg Metropolitan Region“. Prof Dr Ulrike Machold, Vice President and Permanent Representative of the President of the Triesdorf Campus and Site Development Triesdorf, was invited as a representative of HSWT on the subsequent opening tour of the exhibition.
Visitor magnet nutrition scale
As in the previous year, the nutrition scale developed by HSWT students was present at the stand of the University of Applied Sciences stand. The nutrition scale makes it possible to compare the energy content of popular foods with the calorie consumption of physical activity using building blocks that symbolise food and exercise. District President Peter Daniel Forster tested the scales alongside many enthusiastic trade fair visitors and exchanged ideas with Vice President Prof. Dr Ulrike Machold and Prof. Dr Wilhelm Pflanz, Department Chair of Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition.
In addition to the nutrition scales, interested visitors to the HSWT stand were able to find out about the entire range of courses offered by the University of Applied Sciences and the Nutrition and Food Sciences degree programme in particular. Julia Helfert, subject advisor for Nutrition and Food Sciences, and dedicated students were on hand to provide advice.
