Bartholomäus Rock celebrates 50 years of service
Bartholomäus Rock began his career at HSWT more than five decades ago as an apprentice gardener specialising in ornamental horticulture and has remained loyal to the University of applied sciences to this day.
Bartholomäus Rock began his training at the former Institute of Horticulture at the State Research Centre for Horticulture in Weihenstephan in 1975 and was offered a permanent position after completing his apprenticeship.
A constant in changing times
During his time at the HSWT, Bartholomäus Rock has experienced a lot: from the affiliation of the Horticulture Research Centre to the University of Applied Sciences, to the changes in management positions, the switch from production and sales to pure research and the demolition of the old greenhouses to the change in his own areas of responsibility - as a loyal staff member, Rock has experienced many changes at the HSWT.
Helpfulness and reliability
In his many roles, Rock always keeps an overview of the big picture. He is characterised by his helpfulness and loyalty, quickly familiarises himself with new techniques and changing tasks and ensures good team cohesion. His good networking at HSWT in general and at the Institute of Horticulture in particular, as well as his knowledge of greenhouse technology and the properties, make him a valuable and important staff member at the University of Applied Sciences.
Supervision and support
He is happy to pass on his expertise in handling machines and technical equipment in the supervision and guidance of trainees, students and interns at the University of Applied Sciences. He also provides support at events, from making coffee and organising tasks to setting up and dismantling. In his private life, he is involved in the volunteer fire brigade. When Bartholomäus Rock is not on the university campus, he spends his well-earned free time at home in his large vegetable garden with his chickens.
