In Bavaria, a region characterized by pre-Alpine and Alpine peatlands, the Peatland Science Centre and DGMT e.V. invite participants to attend a peatland conference. Guided by the motto “From knowledge to action”, the event connects research with practical application.
The Peatland Science Centre (PSC) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Moor- und Torfkunde (DGMT) e. V. (German Peatland Society) are jointly organizing the Annual Conference 2026. All interested participants and colleagues from Germany, and the Alpine countries are warmly invited to exchange ideas on peatland ecosystems. The particular focus will be on peatland landscapes in the Alpine region.
The program will span three days and combine classic formats such as oral presentations, poster sessions and excursions. The final program will be determined after all contributions have been received.
On Saturday, there will be an opportunity to participate in full-day excursions. Worthwhile destinations include an excursion to the Bavarian Donaumoos – the largest fen in southern Germany with agricultural use and ongoing development projects – or to the Schechenfilz, a successfully renaturalized, near-natural raised bog.
To set the scene for the conference, a short introductory programme followed by a get-together is planned for Wednesday afternoon, 9 September 2026.
Call for Abstracts
Please submit your abstracts by March 31, 2026, to the email address jahrestagung2026@dgmtev.de. Once we have received all submissions, we will compile the scientific program.
Registration
Registration for the conference will open on April 1, 2026.
Information on the registration process will be announced in advance, and the registration portal will then be activated.
