As part of the „Weihenstephan Abbey Summer“ celebrations marking the 1000th (+5) anniversary of the founding of Weihenstephan Benedictine Abbey, a concert featuring the music group Cantus München will take place in the Hofgarten.
The Cantus ensemble performs Renaissance music, featuring sacred and secular choral works by Orlando di Lasso (c. 1532–1594). The programme focuses primarily on compositions written specifically for Weihenstephan Abbey and dedicated to Abbot Kaspar Fras (d. 1576). The four-part singing is accompanied by a lutenist; we aim to bring the soundscape of the Renaissance to life.
The concert evening will be hosted by musicologist Dr Bernhold Schmid, who will provide fascinating insights into Renaissance music and explain its historical significance.
We would like to extend a warm invitation to you.
Admission is free. Donations are welcome.
