Regulatory requirements, the spirit of the times and dwindling resources call for a rethink and a shift in the way pot plants are produced. On this day, scientists from the HSWT will be offering valuable advice.
The ‘Sustainable Potted Plant Production’ theme day is a one-day event dedicated to exploring various aspects of resource-efficient potted plant cultivation. The focus will initially be on the challenges of peat-reduced production – from both a technical and a business management perspective.
The focus then shifts to the sale of peat-free potting soils, with particular emphasis on the importance of providing sound customer advice.
The day’s programme of talks is rounded off with a detailed look at the challenges of organic pot plant production. The main topics here are organic fertilisation and the control of fungus gnats.
To conclude, a guided tour offers the opportunity to visit the experimental greenhouses and demonstration plots of the Institute of Horticulture.
