Preliminary Course in Physics
A preparatory course in physics will take place for students commencing their degree in Food Technology from Monday 28 September 2026 to Wednesday 30 September 2026, from 10.00 am to approximately 4.00 pm.
The course will help you develop an understanding of fundamental physical concepts and feel confident working with physical quantities. It is not just about formulas and calculation methods, but also about developing an appreciation for the subject – and perhaps even discovering a new fascination with it. The preparatory course is aimed at anyone who would like to start their degree with an open mind.

Preliminary Course: Basic Mathematics
A preparatory course in basic mathematics will take place on Saturday 26 September 2026 (1.00 pm – 5.00 pm) and 27 September 2026 (9.00 am – 5.00 pm) for students on the Food Technology degree programme.
The course will introduce the fundamental knowledge required for the Advanced Mathematics module and allow students to practise this through group work. The course is based on large-format knowledge cards covering algebra and calculus. The knowledge cards illustrate the fundamental concepts and the interrelationships between the individual sub-areas. Experience has shown that there is little time during lectures to cover the basics taught at school. Attendance at the course is recommended as a free service offered by the University of applied sciences to all first-year students who do not feel confident with their school maths.
