Weihenstephan Gardens

Coronavirus | Current informationen

Since Monday, 4 May 2020, Weihenstephan Gardens have once again been welcoming visitors. Due to the risk currently posed by the coronavirus, you must please observe the following rules when visiting:

  • Keep a minimum 2-metre distance from other visitors and our staff working in the garden.
  • Please refrain from asking our gardeners questions for the time being.

This is for your own protection as well as that of others.

The Weihenstephan Gardens are teaching and trial gardens belonging to Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences. They are used to teach students and to carry out research into and trials on field-grown ornamental plants, as regards their use and how to care for them. The various plantations are designed and developed taking into account local ecological, aesthetic and technical care considerations. The Weihenstephan Gardens are freely accessible to all interested visitors during opening times. Experience trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials and annual flowers, as well as a colourful medley of crop plants throughout the changing seasons. You are invited to discover the fantastic variety of plants, the exciting combinations of colours and forms, the fragrances and scents of the plants, the buzzing of bees, the tweeting of birds ... in short, everything that the vibrant world of Weihenstephan Gardens has to offer for all the senses. When you visit, please make sure you behave in a way that respects other guests in the gardens and treat the plants and plant arrangements with care.

We recommend that groups of visitors take advantage of our range of guided tours. With help from our expert guides, you will find out all about the artistic intentions behind the plantations as well as interesting information on plant care and the individual plants. You will also be given an insight into what is currently going on in the Weihenstephan Gardens. Groups may only be led by persons who have been authorised to do so by the garden managers.

You can find out about the weather in the gardens here. A weather station run by the German Weather Service provides up-to-date weather data directly from the allotments.
