For bachelor’s degree programmes, applications can only be made for higher semesters in the summer semester. For most master’s degree programmes, you can also apply for the first semester of study.
The closing date for the submission of applications is 15 January 2021. Please note that all necessary documents must have been received by Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences by this date.
Please also see the additional information regarding admission requirements at the web pages of the individual Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes (study and examination regulations, among others).
The following master’s degree programme is still accepting applications:
If you are using a mobile browser, you may be unable to use certain functions of the application portal. We would therefore recommend that you do not use a smartphone to complete your online application, and especially not to upload your documents.
It is generally only possible to upload documents in PDF format. Before starting your application, please ensure that you have the documents in the correct format.
Filling in the online application is the first step in applying to study HSWT.
Once you have been offered a place at the university, the next step is to register. To do this, you may have to submit documents in a specific format by post, e.g. as certified copies. We will inform you of which documents we require in the application portal.
You can view your application status at any time in the application portal. This is also where you can see whether we require any additional documents from you. We therefore advise that you regularly check your account, your emails and your spam folder.
Start looking for accommodation early, especially if you would like to take up studies at the Weihenstephan campus (in Freising). Helpful tips for doing so and much more can be found in our FAQs.

People with professional qualifications may also apply for admission. People with a master craftsman certificate, a further education and training certificate equivalent to the master craftsman certificate, or with a certificate of education and training from public and officially recognised technical schools and academies are entitled to apply for direct admission to a university of applied sciences or a university. People who have completed professional training of at least two years' duration and who have at least three years' relevant professional experience in an area related to the degree programme to which they seek admission can be admitted to a trial course of study.
In degree programmes with restricted admission, 3% of places are reserved for applicants with professional qualifications.
Applicants with professional qualifications must attend an advisory interview at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences with the subject advisor for the respective degree programme. Please attach the certificate of attendance at the advisory interview to your application.
Higher education entrance qualification certificates from grammar schools, higher education qualification certificates from upper secondary vocational schools, and subject-specific higher education qualification certificates from colleges of further education from other federal states are also recognised in Bavaria. This also applies to other certificates containing the statement that the certificate has been decreed at the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) to entitle the holder of the certificate to admission to a course of study at a university of applied sciences.
School leavers' certificates from grammar schools in other federal states that are recognised there as a higher education entrance qualification are not recognised as such in Bavaria.
In case of doubt, please submit a copy of the certificate to us so that we may check whether it is recognised in Bavaria as a higher education entrance qualification.
If you have more than one higher education entrance qualification, e.g. Fachhochschulreife (FHR) (advanced technical college entrance qualification) and Abitur (A-level equivalent) from a technical secondary school, you can decide which certificate you attach to your application. If you provide us with more than one higher education entrance qualification and do not make a decision, we will base our decision on the first one you acquired.
An initial indication as to whether your international higher education entrance qualification allows you to study at a university in Germany is provided by the anabin database of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Culture or the database on admission requirements of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
If you would like to apply for a Bachelor's degree programme at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, your international higher education entrance qualification certificates are subject to a preliminary review (Preliminary Review Documentation - VPD) by uni-assist.
Uni-assist checks your international higher education entrance qualification certificates and converts the grades obtained into the equivalent German grades. Uni-assist will also tell you whether you can study all subjects or only certain subjects (i.e. whether you have a general or a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification), or whether you must pass the final assessment exam (Feststellungsprüfung) at a Studienkolleg prior to application for a university place (for a degree programme at our university of applied sciences we recommend preparing for and taking the final assessment exam at the Studienkolleg Coburg).
To apply for the VPD, please submit an application for Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (Bachelor’s – all subjects) in uni-assist's My Assist portal. Please send the following documents to uni-assist by post afterwards:
*Certified copies of these documents in their original language are required. If the original language of the documents is a language other than German or English, they have to be translated by a court-certified translator. Please submit then a certified translation of the original and of the translation.
Please note that having your certificates reviewed by uni-assist will incur processing fees. Your VPD application will not be processed until the processing fees have been paid.
It takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks for uni-assist to process the documents, so please send your documents well in advance. You will then receive the VPD from uni-assist by post and email.
You will receive the VPD from uni-assist by post and email. You must upload the VPD
