Life Sciences and Green Technologies

The 'Life Sciences and Green Technologies' research group will be realised in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary group with complementary research approaches. The research group offers graduates from agriculture and forestry, engineering, natural sciences, sociology and economics, as well as related sciences, a network and a structured path to a doctorate. The main scientific focus of the group is on the topics of food security and sustainable agriculture/land use, water, climate change as well as the environment and the management of natural resources – with the following emphases:

    • Analysis of the value chains in the green sectors
    • Identification and assessment of the environmental impacts of these sectors and value chains, especially with regards to human well-being
    • Development of scenarios for a socio-political discourse for a sustainable solution for future sectoral and, in particular, interdisciplinary tasks
    • Development of innovative approaches for sustainable solutions on an economic, social and environmental level (incl. land use systems, value chains, technical advancements, digitalisation, global networking, social trends, security of supply and dietary habits)

    The research group will give doctoral candidates research- and career-related qualifications which go beyond their own individual research and complement doctoral programmes at the mentoring universities.More information can be found in the leaflet.
