As a university resolutely dedicated to 'green' subjects, it goes without saying that we monitor our environmental performance and follow an environmental management system. We conduct this work on the basis of the world’s most rigorous system: EMAS, the quality seal of the European Union.
EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) is a permanent environmental management system which aims to sustainably improve the actual environmental performance of an organisation, while ensuring that all environmental legislation is complied with. The international environmental management standard EN ISO 14001 forms a key element of EMAS. The idea to register with EMAS was proposed by the Triesdorf-based "Grünere Hochschule" (greener university) student working group, which has been active in the field of environmental protection for many years.
HSWT’s environmental statement was validated by two external environmental verifiers on 16 May 2014 and it was thereby confirmed that the environmental management system meets the requirements of the EMAS Regulation. Since environmental management requires a continuous improvement process, one of HSWT’s central tasks in the years to come will be to sustainably improve its environmental performance.
