During its Dies Academicus on 18 June 2026, Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) conferred the title of Honorary Senator: Cornelia Horsch is the first Honorary Senator in the university’s history. With distinction, HSWT recognises her outstanding contributions to the University of applied sciences’ strategic development.

Entrepreneur Cornelia Horsch has played a leading role as chair of the HSWT University Council for eight years, a role she will continue to hold until April 2026. As Managing Director of HORSCH Maschinen SE & Co. KG, she is responsible for sales, service, marketing and human resources. The family-run company, headquartered in Schwandorf, is one of the leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery and is a key industry partner for HSWT, particularly in the fields of agricultural technology, agricultural sciences and engineering. Horsch brought her extensive expertise to bear on the work of the University Council.

HSWT President Dr Eric Veulliet: “Cornelia Horsch has played a decisive role in shaping the strategic development of our University of applied sciences over many years and, drawing on her experience in the business world, has provided important impetus for the HSWT’s future viability. At the same time, our collaboration has always been characterised by a high degree of trust and mutual respect. The title of Honorary Senator is an expression of our deep gratitude.”

Cornelia Horsch: “For me, this honour is both an incentive and a token of gratitude: when a university and the professional world work closely together, make bold decisions and think innovatively, the result is a modern University of applied sciences that truly makes the future possible.”

About the University Council

The University Council is one of the central bodies of the HSWT. It supports the university management and performs supervisory board functions. For example, it elects the president and the Vice-Presidents, and decides on the university’s constitution as well as the establishment, amendment and discontinuation of degree programmes. In addition to the elected members of the Senate, the University Council comprises ten prominent figures from academia, culture and, in particular, business and professional practice.
