50 years of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences: The faces and stories

Martin Kaiser

Martin Kaiser studied 'Forestry' (now Engineering in Forestry) at HSWT in 1985. In order to "be able to do something about the general conditions of the forests" he initially joined Greenpeace Germany as a forest campaigner. Today, as senior director of Greenpeace Germany, he is committed to "making the world a better place". As an international, non-partisan and politically- and economically-independent environmental organisation, Greenpeace is committed to direct, peaceful action for the protection of livelihoods as well as a world without weapons and military conflicts – and has been for more than 50 years. On 15 September 1971 a small group of activists sailed to the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska in a converted fishing boat to stop the USA's planned nuclear tests. This daring campaign led to the creation of one of the world’s largest environmental organisations: today Greenpeace is represented in more than 55 countries and has over three million supporters worldwide.
