Department of Sustainable Agriculture and Energy Systems

Welcome to the Department of Sustainable Agriculture and Energy Systems

‘Teaching and researching in systems’

On 1 July 2018, the Department of Agriculture and Food Economy (LE) changed its name to

The Department of Sustainable Agriculture and Energy Systems (AE).

The new name communicates the department’s objectives of addressing the ongoing social changes of our times and their associated challenges (climate change, food security and food quality) and to help find sustainable solutions.

The AE department offers the following two Bachelor’s degree programmes in the field of agriculture systems:

Agriculture (LW)

with the specialisation options of:

  • (conventional) agriculture
  • organic agriculture

and

Agribusiness Marketing and Management (WA).

The new Master’s degree programme in

Agricultural Management (MAG)

equips the leaders of tomorrow to go on and develop sustainable operating systems and value chains.

The Bachelor’s degree programme in

Management of Renewable Energies (ME)

covers the topic of energy systems. The need to ‘think in systems’ also forms a key aspect of this programme.
